This exercise is a very challenging closed chain exercise for increasing stability around the inherently unstable shoulder joint. It also has the added benefit of strengthening your core muscles and spinal sling network as well.

This exercise is great to help improve your shoulder strength and prepare you for any sport requiring shoulder strength, control and stability. This is particularly important for throwers, golfers, swimmers, volley ball players and the like.

If you are recovering from an injury, this may be an exercise that you add into your rehab program during the latter stages. Never perform this exercise if you are feeling pain, pinching or discomfort anywhere in your body.
