Helen completed an Honours Bachelor of Arts with Specialization in Kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario in 2015. Her own experience with injuries and seeing the reward of helping people through movement as a swim instructor sparked her interest in pursing her Masters of Science in Physiotherapy at the University of Toronto. Since then, Helen has been actively pursuing additional skills through advanced manual therapy and acupuncture courses. Helen has completed the GLA:D certificate program providing individuals with osteoarthritis education and exercises to live an active, pain-free lifestyle to manage their symptoms.
Helen provides individualized treatment plans through manual therapy, dry needling acupuncture & a focus on active exercise prescription. Helen uses a holistic approach and regional interdependency model to treat the area of concern and other compensatory joints. Her goal for every patient is to build a ‘tool kit’ of exercises to manage their injury in the future and build the confidence to return to their activities.
Helen has enjoyed a very active lifestyle participating in multiple sports throughout the years from running, curling and weightlifting. Helen competed many years in competitive dragonboat paddling where she has had the opportunity to represent Canada on the U24 National Team in 2017. Helen is constantly challenging her physical capabilities and has returned to distance running with goals to complete a marathon and triathlon. Through her own experience and fair share of injuries, Helen has developed a special interest in running and shoulder injuries and has taken additional courses.
When not in the clinic, you will find Helen outdoors running, biking, paddling or at the gym training for her next challenge. Helen also enjoys spending some downtime reading a good book and cheering on Toronto’s sport teams!
Helen is fluent and able to provide Physiotherapy services in Cantonese.
