Active Release Techniques in Downtown Toronto

Active Release Techniques (ART) in Downtown Toronto

Active Release Techniques® (ART) are offered at our clinics in downtown Toronto. ART® is an innovative and effective massage technique that is movement based and great for sports injury rehabilitation.

Our chiropractors use ART® to treat restrictions in the soft tissues of your body including muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves and other connective tissues. Active Release Techniques® providers use their hands to find areas of dense, thickened and tight tissues.

Once the abnormal tissues are identified, the chiropractor will apply a precise tension to the area in combination with a particular movement that promotes lengthening of the soft tissue. Your chiropractor will combine this technique with other modalities and specific rehabilitative exercises to ensure that the effects are permanent.

What Conditions will Benefit from Active Release Techniques®?

Active Release Techniques® have proven to be successful in treating conditions such as shoulder impingement, carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, neck pain, low back pain, hip tightness, patellar femoral pain syndromes, piriformis syndrome and many more.

If your condition is the result of an overused muscle and a muscle imbalance, you can be confident than ART® is the right choice.

How does Active Release Techniques® work?

When you overuse a muscle, micro-trauma occurs at the cellular level, this results in scar tissue and tight fibrous bands that can limit the mobility of the tissue. Also, it can result in the nerves being compressed or trapped and the blood vessels unable to deliver blood and oxygen to the tissues.

These scenarios prove to be painful and once the tissues are released and the muscle balance is restored, the condition improves.

Ask one of our chiropractors if Active Release Techniques® will benefit you. All of our chiropractors are certified providers of ART® and the cost of ART® is included in the cost of your chiropractic treatment.
