Cosmetic Acupuncture offered at Rebalance Sports Medicine in downtown Toronto is where ancient traditions meet modern standards to deliver visible skincare benefits! Cosmetic acupuncture is a non-invasive, non-surgical treatment on the face and body meant to balance and regulate the skin through the use of massage, Gua Sha, cupping, derma rollers and acupuncture needles, all used in combination to improve the health of your skin and offer a rejuvenated appearance. Cosmetic Acupuncture is offered by our Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Registered Acupuncturists. We are conveniently located in the heart of downtown Toronto’s financial district and are happy to provide direct billing for this service to most extended health insurance policies.
Very fine and delicate needles are strategically placed into the skin to stimulate collagen “plumping”, increase local blood circulation and break down fibroblasts that are found under the skin. Fibroblasts, an active cell in connective tissue, have been found to inhibit blood circulation and reduce collagen. Eliminating this barrier can help to stimulate collagen and is the “golden ticket” for younger-looking skin.
TCM Cosmetic Acupuncture can be used to both prevent and reduce lines, benefiting all age groups. This treatment has been proven effective in stimulating collagen, diminishing fine lines and wrinkles, reducing puffiness in the face – especially under the eyes as well as lifting and tightening the skin for a more healthy appearance. Facial/cosmetic acupuncture can help you feel relaxed, rejuvenate your skin and allow your skin to heal and restore naturally. We treat you externally so that you can heal internally allowing you to look and feel your best!
The effects of Cosmetic Acupuncture are dramatic and can influence many aspects of your skin health. Here are just a few of the benefits that you can experience with TCM Cosmetic Acupuncture:
Gua Sha is an ancient technique of dermal “scraping” of the skin through the use of a smooth rounded tool. This modality gently flushes the lymphatic system to reduce puffiness and help stimulate the muscles for a more defined cheek and jawline.
In TCM this treatment method is used to expel toxins that can accumulate under the skin and in the muscle. It can also reduce acne, buildup within the pores, and results in increased circulation of blood to the skin and local soft tissues.
For the best results, our TCM acupuncturists’ suggest that you attend your appointment with a freshly cleaned face and that you have planned the rest of your day knowing your face could be red in appearance. Some minimal bruising may occur, so if you are prone to bruising easily, do let your practitioner know before you start your session. A certain euphoric effect can happen with acupuncture treatment, so be sure to hydrate before and after each session. Any redness as a result of the treatment should subside within 24 hours.
Results of facial acupuncture are typically noticed following at least 3 to 6 treatments spread apart by one week. For long-lasting effects, at least 10 treatments are required, also spread apart by one week. Once your treatment plan is complete and your skin goals achieved, we recommend a maintenance program consisting of monthly visits to keep your skin healthy and to maintain your improved look.
Cosmetic Acupuncture that is provided by a TCM Registered Acupuncturist is covered by *most* insurance policies that include an Acupuncture allotment, but coverage does vary with your specific insurance plan. We always recommend calling your insurance provider to learn more about your plan and understand any restrictions or limitations to your Acupuncture coverage.
Treatment by our TCM Acupuncturists’ falls under the Registered acupuncture allotment whereas treatment with your Registered Physiotherapist, Chiropractor or Naturopathic Doctor will be billed under the respective services. To make the process simple for you, Rebalance can direct bill on your behalf to many of the large insurance companies. Check with our Reception team to see if your insurance provider is included.
