- Certified Acupuncture and Dry Needling Practitioner
- Functional Range Conditioning Specialist (FRCms)
- Concussion Rehabilitation
Mackenzie is a registered physiotherapist who is a graduate of the Master of Physical Therapy program from the University of Western Ontario. While practicing as a student physiotherapist, Mackenzie worked closely with skilled concussion physiotherapists where he was exposed to working with a variety of complex conditions including both acute and chronic concussions. From this time onwards, Mackenzie has developed a keen interest in treating concussion patients in addition to a wide variety of other orthopaedic patient populations. In addition to learning from his mentors, Mackenzie has also completed continuing education courses in lower extremity exercise prescription, acupuncture/dry needling, functional range conditioning and AIM manual therapy coursework.
Mackenzie works to empower his patients by taking an evidence-based, patient-centered approach to rehabilitation. This involves a combination of manual therapy techniques, acupuncture/dry needling, therapeutic exercise and providing recommendations regarding activity modification. He plans to continue his professional development by obtaining further training in manual therapy, acupuncture/dry needling, myofascial release and concussion/vestibular rehabilitation. Mackenzie also enjoys keeping up with the latest research and participating in regular practice sessions with fellow physical therapist mentors to continue to progress his skills.
Mackenzie has a special interest in shoulder pain, knee pain, low back pain and concussion rehab. He conducts detailed assessments to identify factors that are causing the pain rather than simply treating symptoms. This provides those he treats with the tools to prevent re-occurrence and the skills to better manage and understand their condition. For Mackenzie, the best quality physical therapy treatment involves tailoring each treatment plan to suit the goals and unique qualities of each patient. He has experience working with patients of all different activity levels, ages and a wide variety of injuries. He works hard to return his patients to the activities they love. His experiences with his own setbacks from weight lifting injuries/imbalances helps him to approach treatment in the most effective manner and better understand the mindset of those seeking treatment.
When not at the clinic, Mackenzie’s personal interests include weightlifting and playing guitar/bass.
