Mackenzie is a registered physiotherapist who is a graduate of the Master of Physical Therapy program from the University of Western Ontario. Prior to this, he completed his Bachelor of Science with honors degree at Queen’s University with a specialization in Life Sciences. Since graduating, he has also completed continuing education courses in lower extremity exercise prescription, acupuncture/dry needling, functional range conditioning, and has obtained his level 1 manual therapy diploma.
Mackenzie works to empower his patients by taking an evidence-based patient-centered approach to rehabilitation. This involves a combination of manual therapy techniques, acupuncture/dry needling, therapeutic exercise, and providing recommendations regarding activity modification. He plans to continue his professional development by obtaining further training in manual therapy, acupuncture/dry needling, myofascial release, and concussion/vestibular rehabilitation. Mackenzie also enjoys keeping up with the latest research and participating in regular continuing education sessions with fellow physical therapists to continue to progress his skills.
Mackenzie has a special interest in shoulder pain, knee pain, low back pain, and chronic pain. He conducts thorough assessments to identify factors that are causing the pain rather than simply treating symptoms. This provides those he treats with the tools to prevent re-occurrence and the skills to better manage and understand their condition. For Mackenzie, the best quality physical therapy treatment involves tailoring each treatment plan to suit the goals and unique factors for each person. He has a large amount of experience working with patients of all different levels of activity and age. He works to return those he treats to the activities they are currently prevented from doing by the symptoms they are experiencing. His experiences with his own setbacks from weight lifting injuries/imbalances helps him to approach treatment in the most effective manner and better understand the mindset of those seeking treatment.
When not at the clinic, Mackenzie’s personal interests include weightlifting and playing guitar/bass.
