Bonnie completed an Honors Bachelor of Health Sciences with distinction at the University of Western Ontario with a double major in Rehabilitation Sciences and Psychology. She then attended the University of Toronto to complete her Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy.
Bonnie has always had a fascination with the human body and an inherent caring nature which led her into the field of physical therapy. She enjoys connecting with patients’ to determine the root cause of their condition in order to get patients’ feeling healthy and staying healthy. She truly believes that if a patient is informed, motivated, and understands what needs to be done, their condition will improve.
Physiotherapy is a constantly evolving profession and continuing education is important to Bonnie. She completed her intermediate manual therapy exams and continues to enhance her manual therapy skills and advanced clinical reasoning as she works towards her advanced exams to achieve the FCAMPT designation. She has been using acupuncture for years after completing her Acupuncture Canada (CAFCI) training and examinations and in 2018 she obtained her certification in GUNN IMS through the University of British Columbia. After introducing GUNN IMS into her practice Bonnie has changed the way she treats as she experiences continued positive patient outcomes from using this form of assessment and treatment.
Along with education advancement, Bonnie uses a multimodal approach to her treatment. When appropriate manual therapy including stretching, joint mobilization, and soft tissue release, needling, individualized exercises and education make up Bonnie’s treatment toolkit to get her patients feeling better and staying better. Bonnie has a broad spectrum of experience in orthopeadics with special interest and experience in treating running injuries, sports injuries, pre and post surgical interventions as well as chronic back and shoulder pain.
Outside of the clinic Bonnie is an active outdoors enthusiast. Running, hiking, playing tennis and golfing are just are few of her favourite summer activities, with snowboarding, cross country skiing, and a variety of gym workouts occupying her winter weekends.
During her previous clinic work in Burlington, Bonnie was voted ‘Best Physiotherapist in Hamilton’ in the 2014 Hamilton Spectators’ readers choice awards.
