Rebalance, Restore, Renew: How Manual Therapy helped my return from Injury

manual therapy - shoulder massage torontoA true story:

Years ago I severely tore the ligaments of my shoulder and tendons in my rotator cuff. Since then, I have had on again, off again rehabilitation for my shoulder and although it helped temporarily, I’ve just learned to cope with chronic pain and limited strength in that shoulder. The chronic pain has limited my willingness to work out (specifically relating to upper body work outs). I would do some exercise with my arms here and there when it felt good, but then take time off when the pain would creep up. Recently, it was suggested that I focus on a consistent routine of corrective exercise and strength training to break through and change the patterns my body was previously used to.

What a difference! Since actively dedicating 3+ days a week to strength training and mobility work over the last couple of weeks, as well as some weekly acupuncture and massage therapy, I’ve been pain free in my shoulder! It has been ages since I have woken up without any pain since tearing my rotator cuff and finally I have no pain in the mornings. Consistent, regular training/therapy is the only thing that has helped me keep the pain at bay. Consistency is the key word here!

I can’t forget to mention the added benefit of noticeably becoming stronger in my upper body and doing cool things like learning handstands, which I never thought I could do with a busted shoulder is pretty epic!

My point? Feeling stiff, tired, weak, broken? Just start moving!! Build from there – work with people who can teach you stuff and see the change happen! Contact us to start your journey with someone from our amazing team of professionals.
